CGS Contractors and Celtic Turf are excited to announce that we have made the finalists for this year’s Great British Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Sustainability in the South-West category for our ambition of creating Net-zero Carbon site at Leswidden. This is a massive feat for a family run businesses based in St Just, West Cornwall to gain regional and national recognition in our efforts to start our net-zero carbon journey. CGS Contractors and Celtic Turf are up against some top-quality competition! The Businesses made the finalists from 4,800 applicants across 8 regions
We have worked over the past year on our planning application to ensure it meets net-zero targets incorporating world-leading renewable technologies into the design. The development looks to achieve BREEAM excellent or above rating and utilise Building Information Modelling to computer generate the design and reduce the environmental impact, prior to building the development. We have worked closely with Laurence Associates as planning consultants and architects, Coreus Group as BREEAM Consultants and SDS solutions on the mechanical and ventilation strategies.
We have worked closely with the local MP, St Just and Pendeen neighbourhood plan and former St Just Cornwall councillor to offer community benefit from the development and free to use electric car charging points for the town from the additional power generated. This is currently at the outline application phase, with the hope of deeper engagement with the local community for the full application and we welcome any discussions with residents by running a local event if we get the opportunity to submit a reserved matters application.
